Our Montessori Community

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)

Was formed in 1929 with the aim to maintain the integrity of Maria Montessori’s life’s work, and to ensure that it would be perpetuated after her death.

Their aim states:

“Spreading knowledge of how the child, immature and struggling to discover and develop his own powers, may be assisted in the task of self-realization of reaching his full perfection of growth.”

Montessori Australia Foundation (MAF)

Was formed to streamline Montessori and centralize the service it provides to Australia and its schools. It strives to make available the fundamental principles of human development and supporting practices to as many people as possible through the program “Aid to Life” MAF represents Montessori to government and outside agencies with one voice. MAF is recognized by UNESCO and the United Nations.

Montessori Children’s Foundation (MCF)

Was formed to help indigenous and remote communities in providing educational and fundamental support, to ‘champion the cause of all children’.

Montessori’s vision ” The child is the spiritual builder of mankind, and obstacles to his free development are the stones in the wall by which the soul of man has become imprisoned”. Maria Montessori
